The “fantastic” location and the difficulties posed by the plot due to the slope and the heterogeneous geological composition of the subsurface are the fundamental bases of the plan for the “Bellavista Ruvigliana Residence” on the slopes of Monte Brè. In order to overcome the difficulty of access created by the difference between the level of the residence and that of the road below, the plan involves the construction of a tunnel in the mountain as far as the vertical well that will contain the lift. Making virtue of necessity, the access corridor will become an original and distinctive architectonic element. The architectural design of the buildings takes account of the high exposure to sunlight of the facades and the need to enhance the view of the gulf with ample windows. The architect has thus chosen to use overhanging architectonic elements to provide shaded areas that will ensure internal visibility without sun-blinds. These elements become part of the architectonic play of the facades, also creating a sense of lightness and transparency. The interiors are in line with the architect’s conception of spaces, centred on the aim of great liveability. The project is one of the Studio’s latest, and is still under construction.
